Li'l-Key Requirements

bulletThe Li’l age division is open to ages 6-9 (and no older than 9 on June 1st of the Pageant year)
bulletContestant must be a citizen of the United States
bulletContestant must reside or attend school in Muscatine or adjacent counties (Louisa, Scott, Cedar or Johnson), plus Des Moines County.
bulletContestant must abide by all the agreements and representations contained within paperwork.
bulletEntry/Sponsorship Fee: $125.  Contestants may seek business sponsors for this fee or it may be paid by friends or family.
bulletRehearsal Schedule: Rehearsal Day, Saturday January 3rd, 2009; Dress Rehearsal, Friday January 9, 2009 may enter at 4pm, 5pm talent & opening # rehearsal, 6pm dress rehearsal.
bulletCompetition Day: Interviews, Evening Competition on Saturday January 10, 2009.
bulletOpening # Attire: TBD

Competitions and Judging

Interview  

bullet Interviews are 6 minutes.  No opening or closing. Seated.   
bullet Li’l Miss questions will come from the contestant’s application and fact sheet.  
bullet Contestant’s interview wardrobe should be age appropriate. 

Talent  

bullet Contestant’s talent must not be longer than 2 Minutes .  Only CD accompaniment is acceptable. 
bullet “Live” accompaniment is not permitted.  Only the contestant is permitted on-stage.  No other person may be a part of her presentation. 
bullet Talent must be performed live. No sheet music allowed. Number must be performed by memory. Pantomime and lip-sync are not permitted. 
bullet Accompaniment music must not contain talent and background enhancements.
bullet Tap dancers may not have accompaniment CD’s with pre-recorded taps or tap sounds.
bullet Fire (fire ropes, fire batons, etc.), pyrotechnics, swords, knives or machetes, bow and arrow acts, and the use of live animals are strictly prohibited.
bullet NO PROPS ALLOWED.

 Casual Wear 

bullet Age appropriate and reflects current fashion trends.

Presence & Poise in Party Dress

bullet Contestant should wear age appropriate attire that makes her feel pretty, special and reflects current fashion trends. 
bullet Age appropriate special occasion dresses are what we're looking for not "overly formal" dresses.  Please keep in mind the length of the dress, the material and lining so that it will be non-revealing when worn on a stage.  NOTE: unlined items can become transparent with the intense stage lighting. 

On-Stage Question

bullet The Contestant will be asked 1 on-stage question.  Contestant’s question will be derived from her fact sheet.
